1 cigarette butt = 500 liters polluted water
In order to protect the Osseghem Park, we want to make it possible to recycle cigarette butts. Cigarette butts are still often thrown away carelessly. They are small but insidious contaminants. One cigarette butt pollutes 500 liters of water, contains plastic, 4,000 chemical substances and is not biodegradable but takes 15-20 years to completely disappear. That's why this year we're working with convinced activist 'Leo not Happy'. This year, we are handing out 19,000 reusable Couleur Café ashtrays that can be emptied into the rubbish bin (with the help of the city of Brussels and Fost Plus). On top of this, we will hang 200 homemade ashtrays around the trees and there will be 3 interactive ashtrays to raise public awareness.
