Cutting edge rap genius
You might not know it yet, but ever since his brilliant EP’s The Water[s] and Wave[s], Mick Jenkins manifested himself as a lone star, shining bright & far outside the rap universe. His seemingly endless flows espouse sanctimonious views on the ills of society and the shallowness of other rappers. If it wasn’t for those cherry-picked beats, his metaphors and biting wordplay could easily pass for spoken word poems of his inspiration Gill Scott-Heron. But it is only on stage that the true primal power in Jenkins awakens, resulting in an experience that far exceeds the term concert.
